Taking a holistic approach, we empower youth to return to school or secure employment. Our programs feature interactive training and comprehensive support, and may also offer wage support. With guidance and assistance, youth can confidently take those crucial next steps.
Jumpstart Employment, Training & Skills (JETS)

JETS, located in Greater Victoria CRD, helps individuals find employment or return to school. Our seven-week pre-employment program for youth ages 16–30 offers minimum wage compensation during the group training, which features interactive sessions in an open circle format. Join us to build connections, develop valuable skills for a competitive edge in the workforce and access a blend of in-person and online coursework, including assessments, workshops, certificates, guided job search and interview techniques. Intake is continuous throughout the year.

WorkBC
If you’re over 18, not currently in school and are returning to work, facing a layoff or just looking for skill development, we offer guidance, assistance and potential financial support for eligible individuals. This support includes expenses related to training programs, job searches or starting a job. Financial assistance may also be available for individuals with disabilities at significant risk of losing employment due to their disability. Please note, some eligibility criteria may apply.

Youth Engagement Program
The Youth Engagement Program (YEP) provides youth ages 13–18 in School District 63 with volunteer and work experience opportunities. YEP partners with a number of diverse community groups to provide youth volunteers for community events and programs—many involving an intergenerational component, such as volunteering at SHOAL Centre events.
