We treat residents at our 2 Brentwood Bay licensed dementia care homes as we’d like to be treated.

Compassionately. In a small, homey environment that respects personal likes and dislikes and supports people to be as independent as they can.

A BC ombudsperson pointed to our award-winning (BC Health Care – Award of Merit) homes as a dementia care ‘best practice.’ Arrange a visit to find out why!

Brentwood House (15 publicly subsidized suites /2 private-pay suites) and Sluggett House (16 publicly subsidized suites) offer:

  • 24-hour care and security features for people with dementia who are able to walk independently but can no longer safely live in their home or Assisted Living setting;
  • Freedom of movement  and choice about social interactions/activities (we emphasize residents’ abilities and reinforce their dignity, not their losses);
  • Private rooms (with residents’ personal furniture and décor) and ensuite bathrooms;
  • Pleasant common spaces ( including TV lounges, gardens/patios) and home-cooked meals; and
  • The opportunity for family involvement and input

An Island Health Authority Case Manager must assess eligibility and registration for publicly subsidized dementia care: please contact your Island Health Case Manager or call Island Health Home and Community Care at 250 388-2273; toll-free:  1-888-533-2273.

Brentwood House also offers private-pay care, which does not require Island Health assessment.
