On Sunday, September 6, more than 70 golfers gathered at Ardmore Golf Course for the inaugural Scramble Fore SHOAL Golf Tournament, coming together to support the SHOAL Centre and its important work in the community.
This first-of-its-kind event was made possible through months of planning and collaboration, including the dedicated support of members of Ardmore Golf Course who served on the tournament planning committee. Their efforts helped create a memorable day filled with friendly competition, community spirit, and fundraising success.
Adding a unique twist to the traditional scramble format, teams competed in a Vegas-style scramble, where a roll of the dice determined which drive would be used on each hole. The format ensured that every player had the opportunity to contribute to their team’s success.
Each hole featured its own unique contest, adding an extra layer of fun and friendly competition throughout the round. These challenges added excitement and entertainment for golfers of all skill levels, making the tournament enjoyable from start to finish.
The SHOAL Centre is also grateful for the support of 10 local businesses and organizational sponsors, including presenting sponsor, Capital City Recycling, whose generosity helped make the event possible. Their commitment to supporting local charities demonstrates the strength of our community and the impact that can be achieved when people come together for a common cause.
Following the tournament, participants enjoyed a delicious BBQ buffet prepared by the talented culinary team at Ardmore Golf Course. The day concluded with prize presentations, a 50/50 draw, and a silent auction, all of which helped raise additional funds in support of the SHOAL Centre.
Thanks to the incredible generosity of golfers, sponsors, donors, and volunteers, the tournament has raised more than $15,000 and counting, with proceeds directly supporting programs and services at the SHOAL Centre.
As we celebrate the success of this inaugural event, we extend our sincere thanks to everyone who participated, sponsored, volunteered, or donated. For those who were unable to join us this year, we hope to see you on the course next year as Scramble Fore SHOAL returns as an annual tradition.
Together, we have created not only a successful tournament, but the beginning of what promises to become a valued community event for years to come.
