Beacon Community Services has opened a satellite office in Brentwood Bay with the help of the District of Central Saanich. The office is based out of the Community Resource Office in the lobby of the library building at 1209 Clarke Rd., and will be open Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 10 a.m.–2 p.m., with hours likely to expand in the Spring of 2024.

“We are looking forward to sharing information, resources and referrals for all Beacon programs as well as other services that support the community,” said Deb Greenaway, Beacon’s manager of community services.

Volunteers at the office will connect community members with mental wellness and housing resources, support services for older adults, childcare and other resources. Disabled parking permits will be issued at the office on behalf of the Victoria Disability Resource Centre. Visitors can also learn about volunteer opportunities and services on the Saanich Peninsula.

According to Central Saanich Mayor Ryan Windsor, “Older adults and caregivers told us there is an overwhelming amount of information out there about local services and they find it difficult to navigate,” also noting that having a physical place to go for assistance will be very beneficial.
