Everybody should have a warm, safe place to sleep. Beacon works with a variety of partners to try and make that possible.
Beacon Community Services’ Outreach Services staff work to connect individuals and families with stable accommodation and appropriate services. We focus on those who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, assessing their needs and assisting them to meet their personal goals. Our HPP mandate is to provide these services to at-risk youth and people leaving corrections facilities.
For information about how we can help, please contact Jenn Mortimer, Manager of Youth Shelter and Homelessness Programs; 250 884-3701; firstname.lastname@example.org
During the coldest months (Oct 15-April 15), Out of the Rain offers 15-25 year olds a warm, safe, dry place to sleep, a meal, and a friendly, listening ear. Caring, non-judgmental staff can link you to other community resources and supports. Beacon Community Services administers the Out of the Rain Youth Shelter on behalf of the Out of the Rain Coalition of community partners and volunteers. The shelter rotates amongst various partner locations (most allow pets).
Please visit the Out of the Rain shelter’s website for the locations and schedule (or to see how you can support Out of the Rain’s important work).
Promotes self-sufficiency by assisting people who have been chronically homeless to secure and keep stable housing, connect with community resources, participate in volunteer or paid work opportunities, and strengthen life skills (including dealing with addictions or other health related issues). Funded by the BC Ministry of Social Development. Please contact 250 656-0134 for more information.
