The Better at Home program offers a variety of non-medical supports to help seniors across BC remain independent in their own homes. Services vary by community.

Beacon’s Better at Home program offers a mix of volunteer and paid services to people 65+ who are living independently on the Saanich Peninsula or in the District of Saanich, where we’ve partnered with Saanich Volunteer Services.

Some seniors may qualify for a 100% subsidy. Others may pay fees (charged on a sliding scale, based on your income) for services such as light housekeeping or More than Meals food preparation and delivery.

Light Housekeeping:

  • Bed making and laundry
  • Cleaning or vacuuming floors
  • Cleaning bathrooms or kitchens

Peninsula More than Meals:

Every week, seniors on the Saanich Peninsula can order up to three meals that our volunteer drivers will deliver on Thursday afternoon. Meals are nutritionally balanced,  prepared fresh in the SHOAL Centre kitchen, and then quickly frozen so you can simply reheat them at your convenience.

Other services may also be available as a Volunteer Service, free of charge (including drives to medical appointments, minor home repairs, grocery shopping, friendly visitors or reassurance phone calls).

Pre-registration is required.  For more information or to register, please contact our Better at Home Program Coordinator at 250-656-5537 or betterathome@beaconcs.ca
