For many years, Beacon was privileged and honoured to serve our community by delivering quality, compassionate, publicly subsidized home support care on behalf of the Island Health Authority. In the spring of 2019, Beacon and Island Health announced that the delivery of publicly funded home support services would transition to the Island Health Authority in the fall, to support the implementation of government’s team-based, integrated primary and community care model.
The transition is complete. The home support program for southern Vancouver Island and the southern Gulf Islands — along with Beacon’s home support staff — moved to Island Health effective Nov. 1, 2019.
