Many seniors want to stay in their own homes as long as possible. To help, Beacon Community Services have partnered with Broadmead Care to give seniors a hand through the United Way Better at Home program on the Saanich Peninsula.

The program offers a mix of volunteer and paid services to people 65+ who are living independently on the Saanich Peninsula.

Some seniors may qualify for a 100% subsidy. Others may pay fees (charged on a sliding scale, based on your income) for services such as:

Light Housekeeping:

  • Making beds
  • Cleaning or vacuuming floors
  • Cleaning bathrooms or kitchens
  • Watering plants

Companion Services such as:

  • Conversation or reminiscing
  • Reading
  • Playing cards or board games
  • Facilitating personal correspondence

Other services may also be available as a Volunteer Service, free of charge (including drives to medical appointments or minor home repairs).

Pre-registration is required. For more information or to register, please contact our Better at Home Program Coordinator at 250 656-5537 or
